The three topics covered in this workshop are:
Topic 1 – Speed and Agility Development
This talk presents the importance of speed and agility development and how best to train this important component of physical fitness and athleticism to young players. Speed and agility are based on the child’s fundamental motor skills, the activation of her or his nervous system and on the child’s general leg strength.
Topic 2 – Practical Workshop
This workshop will be concerned with the coaching, practising and providing a range of opportunities for the young players to develop speed and agility through practical exercises and drills to activate their nervous system.
Topic 3 – The Female Player
This presentation will discuss many aspects of female development and athletic training with a special emphasis on the importance of strength training for females and the prevalence of Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injuries among female players in jumping and pivoting sports in particular.
